The project began in 2002 and the main purpose was to develop international cooperation between colleges, to deliver supervised quality work experience for students in other European Countries.

The project uses E-learning environments to allow tutors to monitor their student’s progress whilst abroad. (For those without Internet access, a paper-based version is also being produced).

A key skills curriculum has also been produced so that students can gather evidence of their competence in the workplace, in the context of their own chosen vocational area.

The project has also created an interactive portfolio based on the British wider Key Skills standards that will specify evidence requirements for students to prove their competence in any given work place. These generic standards incorporate Cross Cultural Interaction Communication, Personal Development, Working with Others and Problem Solving.

The production of a handbook (setting out the minimum requirements for partners to follow when arranging student work experience exchanges), was another key feature of Jobline.
